For example, the rotating blown film die is an in-house development, where the mandrel and the die can be co or counter-rotated. Here, the respective speed (up to 30 U/min) can independently be adapted to the line speed.
This allows the production of stable products made of materials such as LCP (Liquid Crystal Polymers), which, in thin films, show a very poor tear resistance along the extrusion direction. By a counter-rotating shearing at the surfaces, a structure similar to a cross laminate is formed by which the mechanical properties are essentially improved.
